This notice explains how SAtoUK.co.uk uses personal information when you visit satouk.co.uk, use the free estimate, buy the SA to UK Hidden Costs Calculator or contact us. Who we are and how to reach us is set out at the end.
The free estimate runs entirely in your browser. The figures you enter are not sent to us and are not stored by us. To show rand amounts, the page requests the current pound to rand exchange rate from a public exchange rate service (open.er-api.com, or api.frankfurter.app as a back-up). None of the figures you enter is sent. Like any website, those services receive your IP address with the request. This website sets no cookies and uses no analytics, advertising or tracking tools. Our hosting provider, Netlify, keeps routine technical logs, such as IP addresses, to run and protect the site.
Purchases are handled by Payhip. Payhip collects your name, email address, billing country and payment details to process your payment, deliver your download and meet its tax obligations. Payment card details are handled by Payhip's payment processors and are never seen by us. Payhip's privacy policy explains how it uses your information.
We receive your name, email address, country and order details from Payhip. We use them to provide your purchase, answer your questions, send you free updates to the Calculator, and keep business and tax records.
We use your email address and message to reply to you and keep a record of our correspondence.
Providing your purchase and updates: performance of our contract with you. Keeping accounts and tax records: legal obligation. Answering enquiries and keeping records of them: our legitimate interest in running the business and supporting customers. We will only send you marketing emails if you have opted in, and you can opt out at any time.
Order records: six years after the end of the tax year of purchase, as required for tax purposes. Correspondence: up to two years after it ends.
Only service providers who help us run the business: Payhip (sales and delivery), our email provider, and our hosting provider. Some of them process information outside the UK under safeguards approved by UK law. We do not sell your information.
The spreadsheet and the browser calculator store your figures only on your own device. We cannot see them. When you are online, the browser calculator requests the day's exchange rate from the same exchange rate services named above, which receive your IP address with the request. None of your figures is sent.
You can ask to see the information we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive a copy of it. Email hello@satouk.co.uk. If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
